You
want me to do what??
Give me a break!! |
This
training has been enthusiastically received by school counselors, social
workers, examiners and others who have found themselves dealing with
troubled students. It guides participants through the process of recognizing
the underlying causes of behavior disorders, developing a plan to effect
behavioral changes and provides practical application of the completed
behavior modification plan.
Introduction
- The need for diagnostic knowledge
The process of educating today’s student is becoming more complex. The only solution is a team approach.
- The need for behavior planning
A behavior plan, with all parties participating, will serve to keep
everyone focused on a specific goal and will greatly improve the probability of
making a change.
Disorders Commonly Seen in School
- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder:
ADHD
ADHD often appears with
other conditions and can complicate diagnosis and behavior planning.
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
: ODD
ODD that is not dealt with
can progress to Conduct Disorder and even more serious disorders.
If not addressed, these disorders can cause a student not to
reach full potential, drop out of school and
at the extreme, can give rise to life threatening concerns.
Diagnostic Information
It is essential in
developing behavior plans that the correct diagnosis has been applied. This
training is a review of DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fourth
Edition) diagnostic procedures and requirements.
