Nicole kissed a boy on the cheek as a dare. At least 6 other girls and possibly
2 adult women then attacked the 12 year-old and put her in the hospital in a
coma. Statistics are showing a marked rise in the number of serious violent
incidents involving girls. Research indicates that girls fight different from
boys; they are more focused on hurting and demeaning their opponent than are the
boys. Girls tend to harbor grudges and a desire to "get even" much
longer than boys do. Fights and angry outbursts can destroy the learning
