Monday, February 12:
Protecting Our Children

  • Activities for the Day
    • Photo ID Event from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to protect our children FREE at Hot Springs Mall.  Ouachita Children Center is putting the event on with the Hot Springs Mall and Gateway Store of Hot Springs help.  C.A.S.A. will have a booth there to answer child abuse questions and provide assistance.

    • Parent/Caretaker Workshop - Lunch & Learn at 1st Step - 12:00pm - 1:00 pm.  It will be dealing with Families and Stress.

    • Child Abuse Magnets give-away with Abuse phone # on it will be given out by OCC and CASA.

    • Guest editorial titled "Protecting Our Children" by Celia Wildroot of C.A.S.A. in The Sentinel-Record.  The focus will be on child abuse. It will address the responsibilities of individuals, law enforcement, schools, and more.

    • Quorum Court Resolution-Garland Co. Courthouse @ 7:00 p.m.

Keys To Safer Schools

  • Activities for the Day
    • Poster Contest/Creative Writing Contest at all Alternative Learning Environments' (A.L.E.).

    • A.L.E. Eagles will present skits at area Schools in Garland County, AR

    • Tae Kwon Do Personal Safety Program at Summit & Excel A.L.E.'s and Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs.  It was arranged by Cpl. Vicki Flint of the Hot Springs Police Department.

    • Early Warning Signs Program at Excel, Spring Street & Summit Schools presented by Daryl Mitchell of Levi Hospital.

    • Pledge Cards handed out at Garland County Schools and at 10:30 am at Garland County Library by Cpl. Vicki Flint and she will be available to talk with Students.

    • Banners to celebrate "Hands are Not For Hitting", will be presented by the Garland County Medical Society Alliance at six local elementary schools.

    • Home School Forum for Home Schoolers at Garland County Library at 4:00 pm.

    • Story-Time "Black History" 10:30 am at Garland County Library - reader Cheryl Batts.  

    • Story-Time "Respect" 4:00 pm at Garland County Library - reader James Montogomery w/ Hot Springs Police SWAT Team.

    • He Loves Me Not - deals with the pain and shame of those who find themselves involved in an abusive relationship.  It will be at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute' theater on Central ave. at 8:00 P.M. with Panel Discussion following.

    • Story-Time "L.O.V.E." 10:30 am at Garland County Library.

    • Art Project for 5 - 10 year olds at the Garland County Library.  Please call to register - (501)623-4161

    • Sweetheart Dance & Social for 10 to 15 year olds. The dance will be at the Youth Center * 228 Orange St.  It will be D.J. with Hot Top 40's mix.  Refreshments provided and Parents are encouraged to attend!
