CERTIFICATION
TRAINING: ASSESSMENT OF EARLY
WARNING SIGNS IN
AT-RISK STUDENTS
This
is the most essential
training available to schools and youth workers today. With the ever
increasing frequency of school shootings, it is time that we do something about
it. Building upon National Level research by the Department of
Education, Office of Juvenile Justice, the FBI, the Secret
Service and others, Keys' has developed a most unique approach to the
detection and prevention of School Violence. It looks at "Why"
we miss these students, "What" to do to identify them, and
"How" to provide help for them. There is an emphasis on identification
and assessment of early
and imminent warning signs in troubled youth. This training
provides schools a component of the Risk
Assessment Team Model that meets the guidelines of the Commission
Report on Columbine for effectively identifying students who may
need help. Unlike training seminars that merely provide theory and information,
this training will produce Certification for using the Keys
To Safe Schools.com Assessment
Tool, a unique device that identifies students in need of help. But schools
should not stop with training Assessment Teams but should take the next step and
provide an in-service for ALL staff in identification
of Early Warning Signs.
| This
training has been underwritten and will be filmed by Duo Creative
Communications of San Francisco under a program sponsored by the Japan
Ministry of Education. Included
in the program with Keys To Safer Schools.com will be the Los
Angles Police Departments' School Resource Officers (S.R.O.'s), Boot
Camps and a victim's mother. |
"Japan
is facing a disturbing increase in violence among students, particularly
at the middle and high school level. The US, likewise, has been dealing
with such problems for some time now, and has thus taken a variety of
measures to correct them. Our production company hopes to introduce
those different programs to Japanese viewers.
Sincerely, Kay Okamoto"
|
| This is an excellent
opportunity to receive valuable certification training for ONLY the
cost of materials ($15) and at the same time participate in a project to
help our Japanese neighbors grapple with the issue of school violence. If
you are interested in attending or sending members of your staff, contact
us immediately as space is limited. |

CRISIS
ACTION TRAINING & WORKSHOP
Do you have a crisis plan or have you
exercised your crisis plan lately?
This training draws on a wealth of national
research and years of professional experience to develop a "Template"
for schools to follow in developing a Crisis Response/Action Plan
tailored to their specific needs and situation. The Template and the Crisis
Plans produced by it have been reviewed by state officials and meet the
requirements established by regulation. The most effective way to using this Template
is as part of a Crisis Action Training and Workshop that involves the
staff at Keys facilitating a meeting of community stakeholders. The Template
is used by the Keys staff to guide the community leaders, and the schools Crisis
Team, through the steps of developing and publishing a fully functional Plan.
