School students have reported an increase in bullying with severe
consequences to themselves and their schools. As if this were not enough,
bullying has been identified in a national study as a factor in the recent
school shootings. At Columbine a group of school athletes bullied the two boys
who later became shooters. Almost any group in anyone's school could be the
"bullies" and and it would be accurate at some point in time. Bullying can be
physical, emotional or social. Keys' Bullying Program offers four
modules to fully address the different aspects of this complex issue.

Managing Anger for Security
Professionals
"In-Service"
This is an abbreviated version of our "Anger
Management/De-escalation Training." It focuses on specific
interventions that school professionals may take when a volatile situation
erupts. Attendees are given techniques for confronting fighting students that
emphasize non-physical means of stopping the fight. Physical intervention
techniques are provided along with cautions and limits. Methods of regaining
control and returning to "normal" as soon as possible are also taught. This is
an interactive training giving the participants opportunity to practice
acquired skills. Learn more

At some time we all say, "It's all about the kids." But do we truly grasp that concept? Not only are the students the reason for our being here, they are also the key to solving problems in our schools today. Rather than searching for the hottest program available, let us learn to listen--and understand--our kids. They may need encouragement to talk and we will need encouragement to hear and act. September 21-22, 2004 - Roanoke, VA
This training is based on National Research and a must training for those that work with children, adolescents and young adults. It is a "practical" training that teaches how to recognize anger, manage anger and de-escalate volatile situations in the classroom. It trains the Trainers three levels of controlling anger and that is to first control themselves, then control the situation, and finally to control the student. This training introduces Huan Ju, The Art of Redirection. It provides physical and non-physical means to stop or break up a fight with minimal risk to all involved. The techniques taught protect the dignity of the combatants, which minimizes the probability of retaliation or recurrence. The unique character of this system is that it is NOT pain inducing, it maintains dignity, it is geared toward students in school rather than adults in residential settings and trainers are re-certified every 2 years - unlike other trainings methods. Two
Day - Train-the-Trainer Keys
announces
the most anticipated, relevant and requested National Pilot
Training Program as outlined in the Columbine
Report, namely the Train-the-Trainers:
Certification Training - Assessing the Potentially Dangerous Student (PDS). Currently
Keys has
required their Mental Health Violence Prevention Experts to conduct this one-of-a-kind
training. Due to the increasing demand on Keys
staff to train individuals in the Assessing of the PDS, Keys
is offering this two day Train-the-trainer event to
selected, qualified individuals.

is the most essential
training available to schools and youth workers today. With the ever
increasing frequency of school shootings, it is time that we do something
about it. Building upon National Level research by the Department of
Education, Office of Juvenile Justice, the FBI, the Secret
Service and others, Keys' has developed a most unique approach to
the detection and prevention of School Violence. It looks at "Why"
we miss these students, "What" to do to identify them, and
"How" to provide help for them. There is an emphasis on
identification, assessment
and training of early
and imminent warning signs of the PDS. This training
provides schools a component of the Risk
Assessment Team Model that meets the guidelines of the Commission
Report on Columbine for effectively identifying students who
may need immediate help. Unlike training seminars that merely provide theory and
information, this training will produce Certification and a Train-the-Trainer Model
for instituting/using the Keys

Assessment
Tool, a unique device that identifies students in need of help. But schools
should not stop with training Assessment Teams but should take the next step and
provide an in-service for ALL staff in
identification
of the Potentially Dangerous Students.

in detail at the regular meeting of the School Board in DeWitt. To learn more
